Vermiwash – Earthworm-Based Liquid Fertilizer

🪱 What is Vermiwash?

Vermiwash is a liquid extract collected from earthworm activity in a vermicompost setup. It contains plant growth hormones, enzymes, and beneficial microbes, making it a powerful organic tonic for plants.

🧬 Microbial Life in Vermiwash

Vermiwash typically contains lactic acid bacteria, nitrogen-fixing bacteria, phosphate solubilizers, actinomycetes, and beneficial fungi. The microbial population can range from 10⁶ to 10⁸ CFU/ml, depending on the setup.

These microbes help in nutrient cycling, disease resistance, and soil vitality.

⚙️ How to Prepare Vermiwash

1. Use a two-container system – top filled with earthworms + compost, bottom to collect extract.
2. Sprinkle water daily (without chlorine) to moisten the compost and stimulate worm activity.
3. Collect the extract dripping out from below after 2-3 days.

🌾 Application Methods

Foliar Spray: Mix 1 part vermiwash with 10 parts water and spray on plant leaves.

Soil Application: Apply around the root zone as a soil tonic, 200–300 ml per plant.

Frequency: Use every 15–20 days during active growth period.
